## Why This Matters More in Florida Than in Cooler Climates
In a northern climate, an uninsulated attic hatch connects a 70-degree living space to a 10-degree attic in winter. ### Pull-Down Attic Stairs
Pull-down stair assemblies (sometimes called disappearing stairs or attic stair ladders) are larger access points that present a greater challenge. The stair frame is typically made of thin wood that conducts heat, the stair door is uninsulated, and the frame-to-ceiling interface often has significant gaps from years of thermal cycling.
